Muslims To Form 'Peace Ring' Around Norwegian Synagogue After Copenhagen Attacks
A group of Muslims plan on forming a "peace ring" around a synagogue in Oslo, Norway, following the recent attack on a synagogue in Copenhagen.
Hajrad Arshad, the 17-year-old organizing the event, told Norway broadcaster NRK that the group wants to "extinguish the prejudices people have against Jews and against Muslims."
"We think that after the terrorist attacks in Copenhagen, it is the perfect time for us Muslims to distance ourselves from the harassment of Jews that is happening," she said.

salin's commentary: Four and a half years ago I was in Oslo, six weeks prior to the homegrown terror attack, blocks away from the bombs Brevik planted in Oslo. We spoke with relatives in Oslo, as the story was unfolding. We watched the King speak through NRK on the internet (my mother had to translate the speech for me.) We were back in Oslo a few months later. The overwhelming response of my relatives was : we will not let this change who we are - we will act in love, not in fear.
There is much talk of the lack of assimilation of immigrant Muslims in European countries. I do not have much experience with this - so I can't comment on that issue. However, this action, demonstrates that the heart of those involved are very much in-line with the spirit of the Norwegians who acted in grief, horror, sadness, and strength while committing to continue to honor peace rather than fear.
Very cool response.
