Dinesh D’Souza is so ‘ghetto’ - By Jonathan Capehart

Dinesh D’Souza is a disgusting man. He shocked the conscience in November 2013 when he tweeted, “I am thankful this week when I remember that America is big enough and great enough to survive Grown-Up Trayvon in the White House!”

Today, the vile right-winger added to his racist repertoire.

-snip-

D’Souza’s slam of the president caused gasps across the Twitterverse because “ghetto” has long been negatively synonymous with African American in popular culture and politics. But let’s face it, all sorts of folks have been labeling things or people deemed lacking class, taste or refinement as “ghetto” for years now. It’s a brand of one-percent sneering that the rest of us hurl at each other all the time, either seriously or in jest. It’s a put-down that packs a punch because there is no denying how bad being branded “ghetto” is. Still, that D’Souza would hurl the “ghetto” charge at the nation’s first black president is beyond offensive.

The ensuing Twitter storm caused D’Souza to issue a clarifying tweet. “I know Obama wasn’t actually raised in a ghetto — I’m using the term metaphorically, to suggest his unpresidential conduct.” Oh, that makes it better. Such comments on conduct are rich coming from a rumored philanderer currently serving five years probation for campaign finance violation.

D’Souza should be in jail where he would no longer be able to assault the rest of us with his special brand of racist bile.

14. The judge is a Clinton appointee.

He is Richard M. Berman, appointed by Clinton in 1998.

I'm not familiar with the details, but I'll hazard a guess that one reason Berman decided against prison time was that it was a first offense. According to D'Souza's Wikipedia bio,

the court sentenced D'Souza to 5 years probation, 8 months in a community confinement center, and $30,000 fine, rejecting the prosecutor's recommendations of prison time.[12] He is also required to perform a day (eight hours) of community service each week during his probation and must undergo therapy on a weekly basis.[11]

It's not prison but it's not exactly skating, either. The community service requirement comes to more than 2,000 hours over five years.

Not only did he suggest that President Obama was ghetto, he also used the term boy. As everybody knows President Obama is a grown man of the age of about 50. I am fairly sure D'Souza did not make a mistake when he used the world boy.

"arbiters" of Obama's "Presidential conduct".. and they always ending up saying more about themselves than anything about the President.

This guy just keeps digging with his very extra special giant shovel.

9. And Florida Republicans want to force students to watch that human piece of trash's film

Twice.

Republican Florida state Sen. Alan Hays has a novel idea: to mandate that each Florida student watch Dinesh D’Souza’s documentary “America: Imagine the World Without Her” twice, once in eighth grade and once in 11th grade. The double viewing, Hays hopes, will counteract the “dishonest and insulting” history he believes is being taught in Florida’s classrooms.

It’s not unusual for statehouses to incubate nutty legislative proposals. And Hays’ bill, along with a House bill sponsored by Republican state Rep. Neil Combee, might never become law. But it’s still worth talking about the “Patriotic Film Screening” bills, as they’ve been dubbed, because they highlight the fundamental problem with turning the classroom into a political battleground: Ideological balance is a terrible metric for measuring educational quality.
