Cetacean Bullying

A lone dolphin has spent the past several days residing in a California coastal bay after several reports suggest it was "bullied" by a pod of fellow dolphins that were blocking its return to the open sea.

"He was scared, he was intimidated, he was bullied," Peter Wallerstein of the Marine Animal Rescue told the Los Angeles Times.

At first, wildlife officials tried encouraging "Bolsa Chica Bob" to return to sea. But when the dolphin, who is nicknamed after the section of wetlands he has been taking shelter in, tried returning to the ocean he was met by two other dolphins who blocked his path.

"There could be tension among the dolphin pod, and dolphins can be very aggressive, even among themselves," Wallerstein said. ................(more)

If your small boat capsizes offshore and a bunch of dolphins start nudging you to (what you think is) safety...they're not. They're just pushing you to a spot where nobody can see them rape you. Then and only then will they allow you to grab a fin and bring you back to shore.

Unless they think you could identify them in a line-up.

Dolphins are a brutal society. Lotsa footage on YouTube.

I went scuba diving in the Caribbean and 9 months later had a baby dolphin. I named her Trumad the Mermaid and love her very much.

The best part is when she comments on posts in H&M

I seriously want to know how factual this is because I love dolphins and hate how we abuse them. I especially hate how the military has been training them to do all sorts of things perverted to their nature, and also how our underwater weapons are harming them.

If they're so no picky when aroused that they'd rape humans, it wouldn't make me love them less but darn, now I want to know if this is true since you're the one who posted that and I have the utmost respect for your knowledge.

...mean we should exploit them as we do. I mean, if we could train great white sharks to do the same things as our military does with dolphins, would that make it less challenging, ethically?

I'm not intending to say that's what you were proposing, but I'm just tossing it out there.

I think this is an urban legend.

Dolphins and Bonobos are the only other mammals known so far to have sex for pleasure and, on top of that, not being too particular about their partners when aroused, but I can't find a single documented case of dolphin rape. Well other than mine of course

Could you?

...being humped by a dog.

Even the elderly are not safe:

On a more serious note, I was speaking about dolphins raping within their own kind, although some footage in an above post does seem to indicate a dolphin would have tried to rape a human female diver if her partner had not pulled her to him and protected her.

This is a good example, from a quick search:

I thought you were saying they raped humans in their caves.

Gang love among themselves doesn't surprise me. I'm not sold on them raping humans though. The last video was interesting.
