Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has become the latest high-profile progressive to endorse Cook County Commissioner Chuy García's challenge to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel (D).
I am going to Chicago to support Chuy García and [City Council candidate] Susan Sadlowski Garza. I support them because we need a political revolution in this country and we need the kind of working-class coalitions that Chuy and Susan are pulling together, Sanders said in a statement.
At a time when the wealthiest people and largest corporations are becoming richer while virtually everyone else is becoming poorer, working-class people have got to fight back. And that is what the campaigns of Chuy and Susan are all about.
García is in a closely-watched runoff race with Emanuel, President Obamas former chief of staff. Emanuel failed to get more than 50 percent of the vote in a February round of voting that would have precluded a runoff election.

If it helps narrow the gap for Garcia it might have implications for next year.
No one makes that argument more bluntly. Or more effectively.

Hard to respect or admire a man who is constantly supporting the 1%.
Thank you Bernie.

A new election poll shows Mayor Rahm Emanuel with a 10-percentage-point lead among African-American voters.
The poll of 1,003 registered voters, conducted for the Chicago Defender and WVON radio, has Emanuel at 46 percent and Jesus Chuy Garcia at 36 percent, with 18 percent undecided.
Computer-assisted telephone interviews were conducted March 25-26, with a mix of about 60 percent landline phones and 40 percent mobile phones. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.
