I feel for her. She's got a helluva bad situation on her hands thanks to some other thugs - the cops.

is going to establish innate prejudice and corruption of the city establishment, and thus not going to help her.

That was a serious PR crisis management consultant fail.

Unless, of course, the mayor is auditioning in code for some white supremacist gig...

She grew up in Baltimore and went to school there. She has been mayor for 5 years.

So you don't think she knows the city as well as you do?

Without much warning people might innocently violate it because they couldn't get home in time or just didn't hear about it. Also, if the police aren't set up to enforce it adequately tonight, violators might feel that they can ignore it.

Sounds to me it was a combination of events.. I sense initial injury of a cracked spine/ vertebrae occurred at the chase takedown. Then he got a "rough ride" in the van which extended and displaced the spinal cracks into fracture shards cutting the spine. Fractured larynx from an impact hit to the throat during a toss in the van...probably hitting the bench during a toss when brakes applied to van. Hitting the bench at the larynx area also could of extended the spinal cracks in vertebrae.

That's my sense of breakdown scenerio. Rachel gave no injury speculation but did give details of the transport phase.

Additionally, if the Police can't control the streets, they'd have to arrest hundreds of people still protesting, or look more ineffective than they do now.

I worked for several yrs. in a similar neighborhood to this in Baltimore, i.e. low income. I understand that the "thugs" she refers to are products of this environment that features unemployment, dysfunctional home life, bad schools, poverty and crime/drugs/gangs/violence. All of that has to change and I say tax the rich at much higher rate and fund programs to help people in need. Meanwhile, unless/until that happens, criminals and thieves are about of every color.

They have now burned down a church that black people belong to This is not about color IMO.

The cost of using that particular word choice outweighs the benefit infinitely even if it is tiny because there is no benefit or necessity at all and I have no idea why anyone would bother to argue the point.

I'm not saying her use was racist but it was a tin eared word choice considering the racist use clearly in vogue.
