The California Assembly has approved a bill that would make it harder for parents to opt out of immunizations for their children.
AB2109, approved Thursday, requires parents who choose to send unvaccinated children to school to first discuss the benefits and risks of immunizations with a physician.
California is among 20 states that allow parents to opt out of vaccines because of personal beliefs.

(6,801 posts)I don't think parents should be free to deny their kids preventative care like this but if they are they shouldn't be allowed to put other kids at risk. So homeschool. Or set up a private school for like minded typhoid-mary's and pertussis-johns.

(1 post)Under California law, parents cannot opt out of this bill requirement by homeschooling or forming a private school. Homeschoolers in California must set up private schools for their families by law, and they must include the waiver and this form in their file.
Parents who make excuses ("My faith tells me not to have my kids get shots" should be charged with child endangerment.
Also, any and every SCIENCE study say the "vaccinations cause autism" stories are pure bullshit.
My parents got all their shots.
Their kids, all 5 of them got shots.
All 7 grandkids got shots.
All 7 great-grandkids got shots.
Not one got autism.
