Funeral Tuesday for fallen Omaha officer Kerrie Orozco

Edit. For those that don't know, here is my LBN post from Wednesday afternoon: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10141098985

NBC national coverage here: Kerrie Orozco's Killing: Police Radio Captures Omaha Officer's Fatal Shooting: http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/kerrie-orozcos-killing-police-radio-captures-omaha-officers-fatal-shooting-n362916

Visitation will be held Monday at St. John's Catholic Church at Creighton University. Omaha police officers and close friends will be invited from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friends and the public will be invited from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The vigil will follow at 7 p.m.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Church. Additional seating will be provided at the CentutyLink Center Omaha with a large-screen video feed.

Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Council Bluffs.

___ This will be the first time I'll wear my civilian Omaha Police Dept. uniform since I retired last November.

When I was hurt on the job in the Omaha Public Works Dept I could no longer do the required heavy lifting. I was facing a disability or reduced early retirement. I was extremely lucky to land a uniformed civilian position at the OPD front desk. The dept. let me stay even after I was diagnosed with FTD until I could retire. I was there 2 years and 4 months.

Your posts are doing that as well.

She was so obviously a caring, loving, brave, woman.

You should post in the Women's group. She deserves to be honored there as well

The NBC evening news and our local ABC station had very nice coverage of Officer Orozco. I cried my head off. What a wonderful woman who lived her life on and off the job in service to others. She will be missed.

May the angels light her way.
