Every now and then I force myself to listen to RW radio

Am listening to Glenn Beck. Have been for an hour.

He has been ranting for the better part of 30 minutes about Rev. Wright and the "God Damn America" tempest in a teapot. I had to slap the side of my radio to see if there were old broadcasts from 2008 bouncing around in there.

If this is going to be the focal point of what these lemmings have to offer in the way of ideas, they are going to be smoked at the polls come November. Their candidate is a milquetoast duplicitous android, devoid of likability and ideas, and apparently a benighted bully of the different and disabled.

All they can do is point to old, resolved nontroversies. I'm feeling good today after listening to Beck, and I never envisioned those words coming out of my mouth.

(edited to change 'bounding' to 'bouncing' spelling error)

That IS torture. Glad to know they are still stuck on the tactics that didn't work the first time.

Fortunately, the answer is still "spinning in a circle like a cornered rat, waiting for the bite of the snake."

($1 to the Ultimate Flame(TM) for allowing me to paraphrase one of their lines)

Whenever they find an effective talking point, they repeat it over and over again. What they lack in imagination, they make up for in persistence, though it is often pathetic to watch.

Hope you don't make a habit of listening to RW radio, especially while driving. It is really harmful to your well-being.

Okay, I'm obviously joking. But for those of you who never quite figured out what Rev. Wright was talking about, he was addressing a mostly Black congregation about the shameful and damnable history of slavery in the United States. That's what he was saying "God damn America" about - slavery.

So, I guess Glenn was sticking up for slavery? Or did he just conveniently forget (once again, and like every other media outlet) to mention that as the context of Rev. Wright's peroration? Since he was spending only 30 minutes on it, I can see how Glenn would run out of time before he quite got to explain the whole thing to his devoted listeners.

Give me a break - that dude would never be intellectually honest about what Rev. Wright was saying. He's all about the shock value. Trouble is, it's been forever ago and beaten to death and there's no shock anymore. He might as well tilt at the windmills of Elvis's gyrating pelvis or some old Lenny Bruce acts.
