Colorlines: Tea Party Confab Plans Voter Intimidation at the Polls [Audio]

A Tea Party group who gained notoriety in recent elections for harassing and intimidating Houston voters has spun off into an organization called “True the Vote.” It plans to swarm polling stations nationwide on election day, with claims to be working to “protect minorities” from voter fraud. Brentin Mock, lead reporter for Voting Rights Watch, an investigative partnership between Colorlines.com and The Nation, explains that the group has “been accused, in some cases very understandably, of being racist and of trying to block the rights of African Americans, Latino Americans, voters of color.” Listen to the full conversation for how the group works, and read Mock’s article.

in the open and not keeping it an under the radar hazard that voters experience individually or that election reform activists wring their hands over.
