(31,706 posts)I work with a home of mentally disabled people who are fighting for their financial survival. They're at the bottom of the financial food chain on both the state and federal level...funding in the best of times is just enough to cdover the basics for these people and now in these times of "austerity" many of these people are being forced to take lesser than less...living in poverty or "locked away" where their quality of life is ignored. Few speak for these people...they don't bring in campaign contributions or have many advocates on their side. While I'm heartened to see this administration stand up for the rights of those who've been long discriminated against there are still many others out there who still suffer from both social and financial discrimination...the handicapped!

They (Buzzfeed) posted pics of Obama LGBT buttons & stuff as if it was a new promotion based on this week's announcement BUT they had the same/similar ones in 08 & prior to the announcement.
They keep discovering pro-LGBT rights Obama paraphernalia and act like it is brand new . It's NOT. It was there before.
This kind of crappy journalism always pisses me off. It gives off a false impression. They do it on all kinds of issues - frequently it is used to push a negative narrative of some kind that is not accurate.
Edit to add - I love the poster and bet they can sell a lot of them. They should send them out to all the campaign offices.
