However, DK lost his grandmother Edith May, "Nan" mother of 7 and grandmother and great grandmother to more children than we can count (over 50) one week before her 90th birthday
Rest in Peace, dear Nan...

(101,361 posts)Because, as I've pointed out below, that would make her a grandmother at age 24. And web sources say his mother is called Virginia, so this woman isn't his mother.

(14,176 posts)Sorry to hear about his grandmom.
One of the very few politicians, let alone Democrats, that speaks with honesty to power. So he is ridiculed in the corporate owned media, especially if he ever has the audacity to run for President. And sadly some of that unwarranted ridicule even rubs off on some on DU.

(206,001 posts)DK's been my candidate since 2003!
I feel for Dennis, since he's already lost two of his siblings and he didn't have the easiest childhood. And I was also close to my grandmother, still miss her everyday. Godspeed Nan! You must have been incredibly proud of your boy...

(5,198 posts)and so sorry for the loss of his great-grandmother. She looks SO proud of him and so full of love.
I totally believe DK was BULLIED out of office by the sociopathic culture we have built up around machismo and appearance. It's no wonder we have problems with bullies in school because this is the way our culture is set up. No one had this man's back when he was being attacked--because this insecure culture needs a macho man. He couldn't be attacked on issues because he was 100% liberal-right-on with everything, IMHO. This country has so many hangups.

(51,907 posts)A small chunk of west Cleveland was connected to Marcy Kaptur's Toledo home base by a thin strip of Lake Erie beach which is under water at high tide. His usual supporters voted for him; her usual supporters voted for her, and there were far more of them in the new CD. End of game, exactly as It Isn't Easy Being Orange planned.

(62,325 posts)Not sure why you think there are not too many fans here. The Right hates him, but they hate anyone who is honest and won't play the liars' game.
She looks like a beautiful woman. Sad he lost her. He has lost three siblings over the past few years and now his wonderful grandmother.
She must have been so proud of him.
RIP and we owe her a thank you for a wonder representative of the people.

Kucinich is one of the very few Democrats who still STANDS for the Traditional Democratic Party Values of FDR & LBJ.
His voice, and the voice of the other Liberal Democrats we have lost over the last 8 years will be sorely missed.
They were the Moral Compass of our Party.
*War Criminals should be impeached and prosecuted, no matter WHO they are.
*The "Iraq Oil Law" negotiated by Bush-the-Lesser and supported by the Democratic Party is a WAR CRIME.
*The Patriot Act should be repealed.
*"Free Trade" and "Free Markets" haven't been good for Americans who Work for a Living.
*We should join the rest of the Civilized World on the ICC,
and the banning of Land Mines.
*Medicare for ALL is not only possible, but CHEAPER.
We already pay for it, we just don't get it.
*For Profit Health Insurance is obscene.
*We can have election accountability, transparency, and verification with Paper Ballots publicly hand counted at the precinct.
*the RICHEST Corporations in history do NOT need $Billions$ in welfare subsidies
*We CAN cut hundreds of BILLIONS from Defense Spending,
and STILL have the most powerful armies and weapons on the planet.
At one time, Liberals like Kucinich and Liberal Values DOMINATED at DU.
...Now, not so much.
[font color=firebrick size=3][center]Unlike the other candidates, I am not funded by those corporate interests.
I owe them no loyalty, and they have no influence over me or my policies.

(62,325 posts)in 2004 eg, in every online poll, he was the winner. The Party has moved to the right, elections should not be about dragging it back from the right and pushing real Progressive Democrats wherever they are running.

(39,909 posts)...who saw a UFO and "looks like the Keebler Elf"
but mostly because he badmouthed President Obama for:
*Reneging on FISA
*Health Care "Reform",
*Looking the Other Way on War Crimes
*Wall Street Bailouts,
*Extending the Patriot Act,
*pushing for MORE Free Trade,
*didn't keep his promises to LABOR,
*Extended the Bush Tax Cuts
.....and criticizing anything about Obama's Centrist Policies
is an unforgivable SIN among some here.
Kucinich just isn't a Team Player.
He is more interested in GOOD Liberal POLICY
than chalking up easy wins by passing Republican Policy.
