Lindsey Graham on bachelorhood: I'm not 'defective'

Sen. Lindsey Graham says he’s not “defective” because he’s single. While he’s “been close once” to marrying a woman, he’s unsure why he never did so. And he said that if voters want a John F. Kennedy-esque clan in the White House, they should look elsewhere.

“If you are looking for Camelot, I’m not your guy,” Graham said in an interview. “If you’re looking for glitz and glamour, I’m probably the worst choice in the bunch. If you are looking for a determined person to be president, I think I can fill that bill.”

...

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Graham’s best friend in the Senate, offered this assessment: “I know he’s dated some attractive women from time to time, but I’ve never seen him get real serious.”

McCain added with a big laugh: “I’ve often told Lindsey that he couldn’t find anybody that loves him as much as he does.”

I don't either, but that doesn't mean I hate women anymore than it means you "hate men" because you like vaginas and breasts.

No need for that qualifying phrase, buddy. That's hardly the only way you're the worst of the bunch.

I'd imagine presupposing anyone's orientation, then predicating a premise on that supposition alone, and lacking any relevant purpose, is in and of itself, objectionable.

Or his supposed sexual orientation. Or the way he handles it.

This is all rumor, gossip, and speculation, isn't it?

That's pretty shoddy, too.

about the role of First Lady. McCain further puts Graham's sexuality in the spotlight by implying that the presence of 'attractive' ladies in Graham's life is a fact that would imply that Graham is at least bisexual.

On further edit, no, it's speculation about Graham's recent thou-dost-protest-too-much explanations as to why he's a lifelong bachelor.

The headline ITSELF implies that men who ARE bachelor's may be "defective". Bachelors (like me) rightly may take offense.

PEople of the opposite sex is actually kind of common. Trying to convince peole of something most know isn't true.

But McCain knows the truth and it's one of the reasons he didn't push anti gay agenda as other republicans have when running against Obama.

Of course someone was going to jump on you about it, but you won't get that bullshit from me. Can anybody be 100% sure he's gay? Of course not. But sometimes you can tell, and yeah, he's likely gay, AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. And it makes him a hypocrite, but it also makes one feel for the guy because I get it too why it may be a struggle to just come out with it, especially where he's from.

and to be honest, I really would respect it if, as a Republican, he came out of the closet. At least it's a start towards a road towards honesty.

But if he is and he's pretending to not be gay, then he's lying to himself, lying to the public, telling his constituents that gayness is shameful ... just fucked up on many levels.

(As a disclaimer, I'll confess that almost all of my friends are openly gay men. Hardly a profile of someone who consider gayness shameful.)

Cheers.

I'm not here to say what he is, but he seems to really be wrestling with things. That's no fun for anyone.

Straight, gay, bi, or non-sexual, he's the one who makes a big deal about it. Pick one and get on with the rest of your life.
