I think the American political system is way too rigged

Like a lot of problems in America and around the world they are very complex so it would take a lot of information to explain and takes complex solutions to reform which is part of the reason I feel the US is stuck on this path because of the parties with their bases that use simple explanations and simple solutions. I'm really losing patience to Republican answers to life's problems, every now and then I hear how a Republicans answers a question -- it has gotten very old. Jan Brewer is like the worst governor I'm ever familiar with but actually has fans over telling the federal government what she isn't going to do. People cheer that on & it is frustrating because of the real problems.

I'll keep this simple though with a couple examples. You may or may not know the coroner system is very problematic and medical examiner systems have been far from perfect. Coroners a lot of places you just elect one not even required to be qualified in the area. This opens the door to corruption, someone can get away with murder mainly the police can get away with murder (New Orleans coroner very friendly cause of death rulings in favor of the NOPD) but overall cause of death is something you don't want someone to make a mistake on.

Someone that is actually qualified is a coroner in Denver, almost lost the election simply because the opponent is a Republican. That is just one small piece on a low scale but the potential stakes and lives ruined are enormous

Political battles shake morgues

Dobersen's challenge was downright polite compared with the bitter battle that erupted in neighboring Douglas County when Coroner Lora Thomas was elected in 2011.

"I was not at all prepared for the tsunami that came at me," said Thomas, formerly a major in the Colorado State Patrol.

Thomas said she ran for coroner against "a good old boys" network that controlled the office at the time. The feud that followed her election ranged from the petty — she and her staff were denied access to gym facilities and vending areas of the justice center — to the serious. She became the target of a state and federal investigation that dragged on for most of a year but never resulted in any charges.

Since then, Thomas said, two former employees of the coroner's office have been convicted of felonies, one for taking guns from the office and one for online soliciting of a minor.

With Thomas stepping down to run for sheriff, there has been a changing cast of potential candidates for her position. Three have filed to run, including her deputy coroner. Two have indicated they are going to drop out. And another potential candidate has said he plans to enter the race.

"This kind of thing happens more than you would think," said Brenda Bock, the coroner in Grand County and a board member of the Colorado Coroners Association.

But as Ayers points out, being coroner is a more powerful position than many people realize. The coroner is the only elected official who has the power to arrest a sheriff. Coroners can also issue subpoenas and can jail those they find in contempt.

I'll try to figure out how to finalize this into a way that makes clear what I see as what holds this in place. The main thing is news media, I can see something reported it mentions a detail but no evidence or in situations where I do know to be true (CNN, in the last few days I've seen so much leaving out the why to the what and making up a why on stories I was very familiar with -- they are basically garbage to me now) People & other sources & re-report that creating this multiplier effect but a lot things are lies, presentations, on a global scale I prefer more talking to a person than airing criticisms in front of crowd of people, in particular the "national security threats" and this to me is very reckless the massive weapons sales is that "spiritual doom" MLK was referring to but for me very depressing.

Private prisons and the issues that involve that are a more local example of business owners making profits & lobbying for policies to increase them, more, more, more which is just cruel and the lives affected this is where a Libertarian is put into a tight spot (they recognize mass incarceration) so they blame unions for this.

Not sure how to close but I'll say say there are numerous things that need a major overhaul but a system so engrained from voters' impressions & views, money, media, etc. I can see improvements happening or possible domestic wise but not a significant upward improvement but certainly a huge fall possible. Those were just 3 examples of the political system but anyone else feel it is rigged or am I making any sense?
