First on CNN: Macy's dumps Donald Trump

By MJ Lee, CNN Politics and Finance Reporter
Updated 1534 GMT (2234 HKT) July 1, 2015

(CNN)Macy's is pulling Donald Trump brand merchandise from its stores after the Republican presidential candidate's recent controversial remarks created a public uproar.

The department store has come under intense pressure to cut ties with the real estate magnate and businessman after he referred to immigrants from Mexico and other countries "killers and rapists."

"We are disappointed and distressed by recent remarks about immigrants from Mexico. We do not believe the disparaging characterizations portray an accurate picture of the many Mexicans, Mexican Americans and Latinos who have made so many valuable contributions to the success of our nation," Macy's said in a statement Wednesday. "In light of statements made by Donald Trump, which are inconsistent with Macy's values, we have decided to discontinue our business relationship with Mr. Trump and will phase-out the Trump menswear collection, which has been sold at Macy's since 2004."

Macy's carries a variety of Donald Trump brand attire, including dress shirts, neckties and cuff links. Trump has also appeared in Macy's commercials.

I've been complaining to them for years. It's hard to take your business elsewhere, because they own so many anchor stores.

I need some dress shirts. I'll send the receipt and a thank you to them.

I'm glad that Trump is finally being dumped, but it's long overdue and there are others like him out there.

It's similar to how I felt when Pat Buchanan was finally disgraced. Way overdue.

If I may, I think the point was that Trump has said outrageously inappropriate, hateful and racist things for quite some time now and Macy's never saw fit to drop him before. I, for one, do not assume that using a figure of speech such as, "it doesn't get more...than that" means that this person feels that Trump has done the most heinous thing that can happen. The poster merely means Why now with this particular group when other groups have been singled out by him before.

She is headlining the Macy's July 4th celebration in NY, and her husband had been on a rip about it:

http://www.ultimasnoticias.com.ve/noticias/actualidad/mundo/los-estefan-expresan-bochorno-por-declaraciones-de.aspx

Trump
Trump is smart, he knows in order to appeal to the RW base, he needs to make these statements. Just look at all the support he has gotten on RW sites. Every other person is defending him. Plus there are closet bigots cheering him on. I bet half these bloggers would not say those things in a mixed crowd at work. That's why they have all those anonymous names.

With his toxic mouth it appears that will dry up. It was no accident that he marketed himself to NBC as a financial genius losing that was a major blow. As he loses his brand name appeal he is headed for trouble. The next crash will be spectacular his only hope is if the level of an obnoxious sales pitch will pay off. It would be wonderful to see him put out on the street.
