Terra, terra, terra. Watch everything!! ISIS probably coming to disrupt 4th of July freedumb!
Who is stupid enough to take this bullshit seriously?
ETA - this was NOT someone from any of the federal agencies. It was just an interview with one of their bloviating talking head "experts" who was practically having kittens.

(45,251 posts)than Lexington and Concord, that kind of thing can be very unnerving.
While the shot heard 'round the world was not fired here, we have more iconic Revolutionary War related sites to visit than Lexington and Concord. Also, Boston's Harborfest celebration of America's birthday, which began July 1, draws huge numbers of tourists from all over the country.

(33,688 posts)I assume Bostonians are already aware of that. But the propaganda is undifferentiated. Somehow I think that if you live in Mattoon, Illinois, Pocatello, Idaho, or Prescott Arizona, or pretty much anywhere the chances of the Scary Ay-rabs coming to your town are about the same level of probability as your quantum dematerialization and re-appearance on the other side of the nearest wall.
Keep the sheeple stirred up and paranoid is the tactic I see.

A friend used to work for the city. I don't remember what his title was, but he was either Homeland Security or working very closely with it. Now he does that type work for one of our universities. Maybe I should email him and try to find out what's up.

(19,326 posts)Wolf has a panel of handpicked "nat'l security analysts" (read ex-CIA/Military war-heads)
talking about how 'we don't have time anymore" to "wait around" when monitoring
"potential terrorists" .. to "see if they are going to attack" ... Wolf nods approvingly..
Essentially saying that -- instead of surveilling and monitoring suspected terrorists, we need
to start rounding them up and/or lock them up .. very creepy. On what grounds again?
The rationale dominating the conversation was that ISIS now has a bunch of 'lone wolves"
willing to carry out attacks on the public, and the lead-time that's detectable from surveillance
is getting shorter and shorter, due to social media .. blah blah..
It's like ISIS is being branded as "The New 911" all over again.

(23,946 posts)Who is stupid enough to fall for this drummed up FEAR? Same reliable American folks that fell all over themselves insisting on fear over science, clinging to the fear in the Ebola propaganda campaign.... another media driven fear-fest...rhetorical question, actually.

Obama hasn't screamed "the sky is falling" and, if his administration is sending out a message, I'll damned well pay attention. OTH, if it is simply CNN, I'll get back to the preparation of food for the 4th.
We mustn't be complacent nor stupid. We know ISIS will make an appearance at some point in time. I prefer to use my head rather than lose it.

Actually, the 4th would be enticing to ISIS. Big targets, as well. I don't think they are interested in anything in my area except perhaps the bridge...well, and heads. Just sayin'.

I guess gunning down folks at prayer and burning of Churches is not enough. Too "domestic" to raise the required amount of fear with your hot dogs.

Not a specific threat.
And by the way, the FBI has issued news of several folks arrested around the country... none in San Diego, why I never ran those stories, but got the news releases.
Also fusion centers are fully manned.
IMHO... news is drumming this when all they have to say is... some vague threats, move on.

(39,215 posts)family gathering in the wilderness. Seriously doubt that they even know we are having one. These mass scares do not accomplish anything.
As far as I am concerned the only people who should take this seriously is the people who's job it is to prevent it. Instead they are issuing messages of fear that actually allow the enemy to win by scaring everyone, by disrupting all of our lives and taking the celebration out of the holiday. All we have to fear is fear itself - FDR.
This year I think the enemy may be inside much more than outside.
