Nashville Christian woman apologizes to LGBT community on Facebook and at Pride

http://www.tennessean.com/story/news/2015/06/28/nashville-woman-apology-lgbt-facebook-gay-marriage/29433893/

...Erika Chambers showed up at Saturday's Nashville Pride Equality Walk with a message on a poster that read: "Please Forgive Me. I'm a Christian who has not shown you love. And that's not OK."

A video the Nashville woman posted on Facebook about her experience had been viewed more than 25,000 times and shared by more than 500 people by Sunday afternoon.
....
"I was so heartbroken about how Christians responded to the ruling in fear and with a lot of hatred that I felt I had to actually show up to show love in person," said Chambers, a freelance photographer.
..........

"Our angry, hateful venomous comments dehumanizes other people," she said in the video. "Whether you believe you're so right or not, you're dehumanizing others. And even if you feel like you're defending the Bible or Jesus or whatever, you're breaking his heart. And you're breaking the hearts of Christians who want so badly to show love." "

She is one of the people that has seen the light and is coming to the trough of human kindness. They are coming and we will be the recipients of this kind of thinking. 1+1=2+1=3etc. You don't have to be a Christian to know that the basis of Christianity is love. You don't have to believe in Christianity. But when it takes hold there is nothing to hold it back. My Dad was a Christian, and a minister and love followed him around because it poured out of him. And when it starts, nothing stops it. There are other ways to God and love and they are coming to the front. Love is all it takes.

Or at least, that's what I learned from the nuns in Catholic school. Hell, later on when there weren't so many nuns, I STILL learned it in Catholic school - from the lay teachers. Cuz THAT is what was taught. If you taught about Jesus Christ - THAT was a big part of every lesson. That woman is being a true Christian, at least as I understand the definition.

MORE POWER to her!

The universe, god, whatever, flows in and gives 'supernatural' strength to those who love. Fear and hate stifle a person until there is nothing alive left.

And considering the area, it had to take guts.

There's been a movement with Christians since 2010 to apologize for their behavior. It gets bigger every year

The area is less difficult to penetrate with liberal ideas than you think.

Now... if she'd gone out to Bucksnort or Piney Flats... well, that's something else.

Is a liberal island in the red state of Tennessee. We consistently vote for progressive issues and candidates, but are battling the rural areas that are not so...ahem...enlightened.
