Look at this woman bravely fighting the existential pain of receiving unearned handouts

Finland Gives Every New Mother A Special Gift Box For Her Baby. What’s Inside Is Brilliant.

“There’s a cloth diaper, and a towel, but the rest is almost all clothing in various styles and forms, all gender-neutral. The bottom of the box is also a mattress, so the baby is able to use it as a bed at the beginning of her life. All of the clothes are very high quality, and a good chunk of what came in the box was made in Finland or by Finnish companies.”

Every woman who is expecting a baby in Finland gets something special delivered to their home to help when the baby arrives. Regardless of income or anything else, the mothers get a “maternity box” for free.

The Finnish government began providing mothers with these maternity kits back in 1938 in an attempt to help lower the infant mortality rate and it worked! Today Finland has one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world.

The box includes everything a newborn baby will need. Even the box itself doubles as a crib, with a mattress on the bottom.

Expectant mother, Felicia, recently got a box and shared with Reshareworthy.com what was inside her box. She explains that every mother in Finland is eligible to get this box after 154 days of pregnancy. All they need to do is visit a doctor, fill out a basic form and submit a certificate of pregnancy from her healthcare provider

relatively noncontroversial, Finland has the lowest abortion rate in Scandinavia.

I imagine there is something in the Finnish social contract that has genuine respect for children, unlike the cheap lip service given here and maybe some other places.

It's not about giving a shit for the fetus. It's all about control.

Harassing and shutting down the clinics like Planned Parenthood that provide these family planning services doesn't help.

organizing effort by a bunch of working folk, an industrial union called the IWW. But the country killed them off. Showed them.

Your description sounds a bit like the same concept applied to a country.

We might get around to it again, but we have to stop beating each other over the head with flags first.

America is a country where people are against each other, so thus not the same ability for the government to be friendly toward its people.

There is money to be made, by a handful of people at the top!

We need to stand up. We need to stop the wholesale destruction of the nation by the billionaire class and their right wing allies. There are NO GOOD TRADE DEALS!

Could you imagine a mother and her new baby being treated with such kindness in this ASSHOLE NATION®?

. . . it's totally over most Americans' heads.

And 90% of Finland's adults also exercise with sports twice a week - and are usually paid on company time to do it! All for increasing health and reducing medical costs.

I wonder how long it will take before our pathetic Americans will realize that, as a society, Finland is probably at least 50 years ahead of us.
