Changing Name of Robert E. Lee School to Honor a Fallen Cop (CA)
... The San Diego Black Police Officers Association and the full San Diego Police Officers Association are asking the school district to change the name of the school to ArchieBuggsSchool.Officer Buggs was killed in the line of duty way back in 1978 when he stopped a car in the Skyline area and one of the two gang members inside shot him six times, killing him in the street.
Amazingly there has never been a memorial created in San Diego for Officer Buggs. So the name change of a school is probably long overdue. And it's believed to be the first time a school has ever been named after a cop.
Coincidentally that gang member who was sentenced to life in prison for the murder is up parole late next month ...
