(23,973 posts)with Jim Ladd and he said that in order to get the best overall view, the cheap seats were the way to go.
He said that the "wankers with their American Express Cards and front-row seats" won't have as good a seat as someone that dug deep just to be able to buy a cheap ticket.
The scope of the total experience is just too large to take it all in up close, but he did say that those people in front will get a good look at his nose hair.
No dig at you.
He was hilarious.
If I could go, it wouldn't matter if they made me hang from the rafters by my toes, I'd still have a great time.
Roger also kicked off the new Pink Floyd channel on S/XM debuting this Friday, it will be just like the Grateful Dead channel, all Pink Floyd, all the time, concert, interviews, music, rare stuff....it will be freakin' sweet.

(4,569 posts)It also looked like the back video screen was blocked by the rigging. I had a straight shot at the stage in the nosebleeds and saw everything perfectly. The only bad thing is that two rows in front of me, people were blazing. Normally I don't have a problem with that, but one row in front of me there were 2 kids aged around 7-10. That's just wrong to get little kids stoned.

(4,569 posts)the people in those rows didn't know how to hold it in, they just puffed in, blew out and it wafted up to the kids, then me. I got a massive contact high, so I can only imagine what the kids were going through. Their mother was using a jacket to try to wave the smoke away, did no good.

(19,705 posts)There is about as much evidence that one can get drunk from being around alcohol, but that is beside the point.
I see no reason to curtail such adult activities just because some yahoos brought their kids. Were I to take my child to a concert such a that, I would expect to see that behavior going on.
I guess I'm just saying "meh" to that.

But I would need to see something a bit more empirical before I can make an informed decision.

(4,569 posts)You can get high off of weed smoke blown by another person.
cleanhippie
(19,705 posts)Sure, shotgunning it directly from the lungs of one into another...
Having it dispersed in the air then circulated around constantly mixing with air and diluting? The jury is still out on just how effective that is at getting high enough levels of THC to have any significant effect.
Like I said, it's debatable.

(19,705 posts)yet for THIS show, I want to SEE the musicians perform.
But I take offense to his statement "wankers with their American Express Cards and front-row seats" as I 1) am not a wanker (according to me , 2)do not have an AmEx card and am not rich (as implied by his statement), and 3) scrapped every penny I could get and pulled the very few strings I know to pull to get good seats.
But by Thursday, all of this will be forgotten as my wife and pre-funk in the car, mosey in to our seats, and experience one of the greatest albums performed live by one of the greatest musicians still alive.

A concert promoter estimated that a Pink Floyd reunion tour could gross $600 million. Maybe...maybe not... but it would be huge money, for sure.

(4,012 posts)OMG was it good. I expected it to be great, but it was beyond my huge expectations...damn!!!
BTW, I had 22nd row center & the view was perfect. I could see the Roger & the band while still able to see all that was going on with the wall. I do agree that any closer would have limited my view, only because there was so much to see & the wall is HUGE.
If you can see this show...DO IT!!!

(2,404 posts)Dark Side of the Moon on regular rotation lately. I'm amazed how good they were early and remained so throughout the years. I think David Gilmore is one of the best in his field...so innovative and makes it sound and look effortless.
I am actually a big Steely Dan fan...but I would be the first to admit that DSOTM and The Wall are two of the greatest albums of all time.

(33,688 posts)Absolutely amazing!! Roger was in exceptional form, interacted with the crowd and the show itself was so complex that Spielberg or Lucas would get heartburn thinking about trying to pull it off in real time.
