It was not, it was one of many battle flags adopted by the Army of Northern Virginia, it got adopted after 1954, worked into state flags in the old south. And what happened in 1954 was the Brown vs The Board of Education ... And that flag coming into prominence was essentially not heritage, not about civil war heritage, but about resistance to civil rights ...

(17,301 posts)At flea markets and roadside sales the Southern swastika was flying high in east TN. Where I might see only one fool a month, they were all out this weekend.
Some apparently ignorant fool had the US flag and the Southern swastika flying togeather on the back of his broken down pickup. Does he NOT know the confederacy was all about traitors and haters of the United States? Flying those 2 togeather is such a contradiction that I'm surprised someone hasn't told the pickup owner. There are a few confederate fools who attended school.
Then there is the Southern swastika with a picture of Jesus in the middle of it. It was being sold right next to the one with the guy holding a rifle on it. I'm not sure who the guy with the rifle on the Southern Swastika was. Maybe he was one of those duck beard guys. But at least at our Farmers Market, where we sell our orgnic produce and pasture raised eggs and lamb, there were no swastikas.
