The 2nd Amendment was written to prevent a standing army in peacetime. Its anachronistic carcass was comandeared by the right wing to enshrined guns into the Constitution via the 2008 Heller decision. Most Americans don't own a gun. Yet sadly, the ones that do have come to represent us.
