Cannot Believe The Depths Of Insanity We Are Descending To In Presidential Race.

This presidential election is the most surreal I have ever experienced so far and it looks like it will get much worse. None of these GOP candidates would even be allowed any where near a stage in the 1950's, 1960's or 1970's. All their candidacies would be over with the statements they are making. How they have any legitimacy is unbelievable.

We can blame the media for giving them a forum and keeping them afloat. Sadly one of these yokels will get the nomination and we will be off to the races.

American voters are becoming an international embarrassment and a joke. We are a nation of rubes. Just what I hear locally from GOPPERs makes me want to puke. They are so hateful and nasty. They seem to take joy in fucking over people and creating misery. What GOPPERS seem to believe go past lack of empathy. They are just plain sadistic and love causing pain.

Too many Democrats stay silent. And Dems need to understand that getting nasty in return is ok

I belong to a small old discussion group where we are in different political camps and the subject of Hilary "lying" keeps coming up but GWB was a saint who saved us and never lied. I have to tell you we are beating them up and they are holding fast. I expect the conservatives to leave soon, they did the last presidential election, they only come back when they can complain about a democrat.
Seriously, is there a single republican who has not made a total ass of themselves yet?

That the comedy "Idiocracy" was really a documentary pretending to be a comedy...

It really is mind blowing how far the right has gone. You are absolutely right about the 50's / 60's and 70's in your post and that Dem's need to start pushing back in a big way because the media doesn't.

a man. Another that has an ego as big as the Milky Way. Another that read Dr.Seuss in the Senate. I could go on and on - but what's the use. None of them are presidential material. How embarrassing.

Not to discount the surreal aspects of this one, TheMastersNemesis.

Some of Jefferson's supporters hired a 'doctor' to go around with charts and graphs comparing Adams to a hermaphrodite. Some of Adams' supporters accused Jefferson of having detailed plans to sell the country to the French. I read this in a NY Times article a few years ago, that was talking about the surreal aspects of the Obama - McCain election.

Primaries can get really crazy. It's silly season. There's some great documentaries about the 1968 democratic convention (massive protests and police brutality in Chicago) and the 1972 race (crazy convention where McGovern couldn't even speak till long after midnight, so even though he gave a great speech, most people who hoped to watch it were asleep).

If you read De Toqueville or look at slavery and the Civil War and the leaders we've elected, I think we've long been weird. If you look at other countries and their histories, they haven't been much better.

I agree with that today's GOP is off the rails. Certainly no Eisenhower among them. They're a clown car. And they inhabit the majority of Congress.

I can never remember an election quite like this. All the people on the Republican side are such goofballs. How does anyone take them seriously?

Their exploits and outrageousness are discussed and laughed about, everyone guessing who will be kicked off president island next. It's a GD shame to see this country come to this.

Can you believe it's only been a few years since Howard Dean's campaign ended because of a scream? Compare that to what happens now.

At the current rate, within 20 years, a Republicans candidate will skyrocket to the top of the polls and get nominated after pulling a gun out at a debate and shooting another candidate who dared to say someone with .01% Hispanic heritage should be allowed to continue their citizenship.
