The Daily ran a photo caption with a story on Thursday that referred to Missouri students as "colored."
It was an egregious mistake that we deeply regret. The Daily is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion and this error is not reflective of our organization as a whole.

(2,088 posts)This is a serious question. Excuse my ignorance, I lived outside of the US for large parts of my life.
There is obviously some subtlety here that makes one term acceptable and the other one offensive.

(10,168 posts)in this country with their rhetoric. They were cowed for a little while because it wasn't safe to let their vile ignorance show in public, but no more. When we Dems win in 2016 we need to crush this and chase them back into their cockroach holes.

(78,249 posts)In SA, "coloured" means a person of mixed race. Cape Town has the largest coloured population. By no means all coloured people vote ANC!
