Sigh... The Social Media Outrage Machine Strikes Again

Oy vey.

Nordstrom came under fire Monday when a customer noticed a Hanukkah sweater emblazoned with the words "chai maintenance" and "Hanukkah J.A.P" (short for "Jewish American Princess," a derogatory term) for sale on the store's website, JTA reports.

Caroline Schaeffer Lewis posted her concern over the sweater to the store's Facebook page, prompting fellow customers to speak out as well. "I'm disappointed to see that Nordstrom is selling such an offensive item that perpetuates negative stereotypes of Jewish women," she wrote.

Nordstrom representatives responded to the comments almost immediately, agreeing that the item isn't something the store "should have offered." Three hours later, they posted that the sweater would be removed from the site.

The top is no longer available at Nordstrom.
