Business To Pay No Taxes In Kansas

Now that Governor Brownback has signed legislation that essentially eliminates business taxes in Kansas it is a model for the rest of the nation. If you listen really hard to the GOP and Chamber of Commerce rhetoric you will hear the message "Only workers and wage earners should pay taxes". The new Kansas legislation should be a warning that "no taxes on businesses and the rich" will be the norm.

They believe what Leona Helmsley said years ago that "only little people should pay taxes" and they are all about accomplishing that goal. The reason is that the GOP believes that the businesses and the rich are the ones who provide people their livelihood. They do not use the commons in their view.
These memes are not being said directly, but are buried in so many code worded ways with good sounding language that seems innocuous enough.

How much more absurd are we going to get on important issues? When will enough of the electorate wake up and realize that the GOP and its business allies are screwing them?

go to the polls. How the majority can continue to vote in the ones that want to screw them to the wall is beyond me.

I've given up on Kansas, time to get the hell out. Sometimes in life the best policy is to just walk away from things and let them crash, otherwise, they take you with them. Kansas is projected to be in the red by several billion with this idiotic maneuver. Like Kansas never was the number one destination for many people IMO to move to for work.

I'm convinced in my lifetime I'll see the entire US crash financially for the majority. And I never was a pessimist, but anymore, just how much handwriting on the wall is needed.

because that's what their parents did and their grandparents and it's always worked in the past.

They don't pay any attention to what has happened to the republican party and don't realize until it's too late that the people they are voting for are lunatics whose policies will destroy the state.

I'm old enough to remember when voting for republicans in Kansas wasn't always a bad decision. We had some minor disagreements with them but for the most part, they wanted the same things we did - good schools, safe communities and dependable government.

But those days are long gone.

provided some counterbalance by providing insight to help keep the country on an even keel, kind of balancing out the fringes so we did not go way off course in one direction or another. But today, the republicans have literally gone insane. It's quite frightening. Now, they want to literally rip the country apart.

And they voted for Bob Dole every time he was on the ballot. My dad was a WWII veteran who admired and respected Dole. He was proud he was our senator. My mom loved Nancy Kassebaum and even hosted neighborhood fundraisers for her. She invited other Democrats. That's what we did. We supported the candidates who shared our values.

Today Republicans like Dole and Kassebaum are called RINOs by the whackjobs on the far right. And they work as hard as they can to get them out of office.

It's sad. I'm so glad my parents aren't around to see this.

democratic politician in another state. He was a very strong FDR democrat. And some of his best friends were republicans. They used to partner on ideas that worked out best for people. There was always a lot of common ground, the republicans and democrats wanted the country to prosper and the republicans back then knew that many in the country needed to prosper. My mother was very active too. They both believed in fairness.

I often think similar, my parents just would not believe what is going on today. It's frightening, and if it continues is going to sink the country IMO.

Companies are being promised all kinds of incentives (mostly tax forgiveness) to come to Kansas. KCMO has an earnings tax so they really do save money when they move here from there. But it's causing lots of problems in the community and is bordering on silly now.

Brownback and the legislature. They are useless overhead. And why should Brownback have a governor's mansion. He can live in an ordinary house like the rest.

I wonder if you can get rebates - on no taxes paid (i.e, a subsidy) - in Kansas now if you threaten to move your firm away if you don't get more tax breaks.

Rinse & repeat.

The race downward is something repigs are experts in. The only thing they're good at (besides hating America & the Middle Class)

Utopia has finally arrived. The state will be a petri dish for the nation.

My sympathies for all our Kansan compatriots, because state spending will inevitably follow the formula and you all have to live with the aftermath. I think it is where we are moving as a country, so now we will have a history to be informed by.

I am curious to see how long voters will be wooed by this trend. So I watch.

This is basic economics.

Tax the profits of the owners/shareholders. Still paid by the consumers. Still basic economics. But at least it's a little more transparent.
