Rush in the Rotunda? No way!

Earlier this spring, more than 35,000 Missourians expressed their horror with Speaker Steve Tilley's decision to put Rush Limbaugh in the Hall of Famous Missourians. They called, emailed, faxed and signed petitions to keep this hateful man and radical ideologue from being honored in our State Capitol.

It got worse.

Speaker Tilley ignored the outrage and chose to unveil Limbaugh's bust for the Hall of Famous Missourians in an unprecedented, invite-only ceremony that he kept secret from the public and press until the very last minute. Now, after session has adjourned, the House Republicans quietly installed the bust in the third floor rotunda.

The good news is that the Capitol Rotunda and the space that holds the Hall of Famous Missourians are controlled by the Office of Administration, and the Speaker does not get to run roughshod over the people of Missouri in their Capitol. Please call, email or fax Commissioner Doug Nelson and tell him you support his and Governor Nixon's decision to keep this hateful person out of the Hall of Famous Missourians:

1. Can Governor Nixon order the statue melted down

and sent to Speaker Tilley as a load of waste and billed for this waste of time, including removing it from the capitol, dragged into a foundry, melted down, and shipped to Tilley's residence and dumped on the front lawn, police presence here to prevent from removal until Tilley resigns.

4. Tilley's homage to OxyRush doesn't go far enough, in my opinion.

I believe a bronze depiction of Rush's "anal cyst" should also be enshrined for future generations to marvel over.
