Please help me understand my CT scan

Hi there,
First of all, I am NOT asking for a diagnosis and I release the DU and its members from any liability. All decisions made are mine and mine alone.

That said, I had a CT scan a few weeks ago and looks like I have a 10mm kidney stone. It's not painful but it does have to go. That's fine. But there were 2 other "findings" that the doctor said not to worry about but I'm seeing specialists about them anyway:

1. Stable left lower pulmonary nodules measuring up to 3mm. Stable back to 2010 scan.
Could this be scar tissue from pneumonia?

2. Stable 18x9mm area of soft tissue density in the left lower quadrant along anterior peritoneal surface of uncertain significance. Where is this??

What concerns me is that I had a carcinoid 30 years ago (2mm submucosal, benign) and my father had a 5mm blockage (carcinoid) in his intestine. Apparently these things haven't grown.

Any thoughts on what type of doctor I should see? The first would be a pulmiologist and I'm seeing one in January, but the other issue I'm stumped. My doctor suggested my gynecologist but I'm not sure.

Thoughts?

Thanks

At least they could do a biopsy if needed. The other thought was proctologist or gastroenterologist. I think you'd be safe going with whichever one you felt most comfortable or had a patient history with. My gastro dr does very thorough exams (he's done my gall bladder removal to endoscopy/colonoscopy with polyp removal). He saw something he didn't like on my friends pre-op tests and sent him to a lung cancer specialist for further testing.

Best of luck in finding out answers. Right now I'm sitting here with a 7mm kidney stone that my doc said wasn't big enough to do anything about since it was not "on the move" at the moment. Sending healing thoughts and prayers your way that they get yours resolved.

is near your ovaries and reproductive organs or bladder. Can't really tell. I guess you have to go to the referred dr to rule out those system pathologies first. Good luck!

It's calcified, so it's very obvious and always draws comments if it's included in the area imaged

1. will be addressed by pulmonologist. 2. is in the left lower part of your abdomen. Anterior - front. Peritoneum is lining of your abdomen. I read that as between the lining and the overlying tissues (fat and muscle and skin). Gynecologist would be good start, general surgeon would be a choice too.
