Republicans try to derail Paris Climate Summit.

Nov. 30, 2015 10:27 am
By Thom Hartmann

This week, leaders from around the world are meeting in Paris to work out the future of global climate action.

But, while our President is overseas trying to come up with climate solutions, Republicans back in the states are undermining him at every turn. And, their typical obstruction could pose a threat to the entire Paris summit.

Rather than working on ways to solve our climate crisis, our Right-wing lawmakers have vowed to block $3 billion dollars that President Obama has pledged to help developing nations.

During the 2009 climate talks, trust broke down between developing and developed nations, and threatened to derail the entire summit. Thankfully, then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton managed to save the talks by pledging to help raise $100 billion dollars in annual aid for developing nations.

Whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Even if it takes registering as a Dem ...

Limbaugh's effort, which began early this year, is a call to arms urging conservatives and Republican voters to re-register as Democrats - and create chaos in that party's presidential nomination process by casting a vote.

I seem to recall that politics was supposed to stop at the water's edge, and that it was the height of demagoguery to undercut the Commander-in-Chief during wartime when he was overseas. At least, those were the rules from 2001 to 2008. What's changed???

care. They are arrogant, and damn it, if the President won't listen, they will just go and throw a monkey wrench into the entire works and bring it to a screeching, sparking, grinding halt, because...under it all, they Just Hate this Country, the people and the world it belongs to.

It's also sort of amusing to note that their standard invocation of "the American people" or "the will of the people" is missing when they pull this kind of crap. Fortunately, the popular media know better than to ask Republicans about this, so they won't be embarrassed. Isn't that nice?
