A very insignificant award in MHO.

Its action, not just words & stump speech promises.
Good for them to be so recognized for their forever fight.

(50,562 posts)The "Person of the Year" that makes the cover of the print edition is, and has always been, chosen by Time's editors. The only presidential candidate on their shortlist is Trump.
I suspect the POTY will be the leader of ISIS.

(9,148 posts)How you interpret the OP as a dig at a candidate is really off base.
How is it against bernie sanders??
There's nothing there to infer that opinion.
Not one word.

(6,119 posts)and given the current climate on DU at the moment, it stands to reason that a Hillary supporter might be inclined to write an op that minimalizes the relevance of Time's Man of the Year.
If that sincerely was not the intent, I am sure both you and Trumad are bright enough to know that it might easily be interpreted that way - this is a political website by the way.
I will stop short of saying that I think he may have deliberately set out to bait the "Hillary Bernie thing" responses he is getting.

(45,319 posts)It is also very unlikely that the choice will be any candidate for office, no candidate has ever been Person of the Year and I doubt they will do so this time.

It's not who's "The BEST" -- it's who made the news in an interesting and noteworthy way.
If you get yammered about--for good or ill--you have a shot at the prize.
