Oklahoma Republicans cut taxes now it has big budget hole.

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_OKLAHOMA_BUDGET_CRISIS?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2015-12-12-10-55-37

Republican Gov. Mary Fallin and the GOP-led Legislature pushed through the latest cut, a quarter-point reduction in the top income tax rate, two years ago when $100-a-barrel crude buoyed the state's coffers. While the average tax filer will save only about $85 a year under the cut taking effect Jan. 1, it comes at a $147 million price tag to the state.

State services - including education - are feeling the pinch.

Cut taxes for the wealthy so we can short change the child education and medical care.

Most people in OK:
Don't know what is going on at all
Figure it will get fixed somehow (it always does)
Don't care
Assume they cannot change it
If a teapublican, it's the damn Democrats fault

I know because it is the battle I face all the time because when, as a union shop steward in a state employees union (not OK but WA), I try to make them understand that the budget is broke and we have to fight for the things that matter, including our piece of it, that is the answer I get. I have heard answers from people before in other states.

In all honesty, we have fought more about federal politics (president) and had more discussions in the last week, than some of you and almost all people from your respective states, have talked about state politics this entire year.
Teapublicans count on it and have been very successful exploiting it. They have all but run the table on Dems in governors and control of state legislatures.
The DNC has to put more effort into state elections. We have already screwed ourselves for years, all we can do now is try to fix it.

when taxes are CUT, revenue magically increases.
(unfortunately, too many Centrist "Democrats" buy this insanity.)

After all, what can be bad about tax cuts?

In other news, we (Oklahoma) just fell to 50th in state health rankings.

I love my state, but we have elected a bunch of dimwitted politicians, starting with our governor.

If voters continue to elect Repukkkians in their states, they must live with the consequences of their votes...
