General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region Forumswe have had several students suspended to the end of the semester. They were told to complete their
work at home.
2 specifically have been trying -we use an online delivery method- One particular student is having major problems with is work. He has a unit left. Another student has a paper due that he has no clue how to do because he missed the instructions...it is a major paper required by the district.
Today I got permission to go to their homes as long as an adult is present to help them finish.
When I called to make arrangements, one mother cried on the phone and thanked us more than once for being willing to come help their child finish.
I hope it makes a difference -hope it helps in some way

I hope their issues resolve so they can finish their work and be proud of it.

(108,994 posts)One of my children took a couple math classes that way (because she had run through all the math classes at her school) and found it very frustrating not to have a teacher to get assistance from.
She went on to get a PhD in engineering, so it wasn't that the material was too difficult. It's just that the people who promote online classes are underestimating how valuable teachers are.

and the athletes that were good at their sports but not in class. It was cool to see the tough guys
develop a love for Dickens.
