(52,791 posts)we're doing in Iraq.. going into tremendous detail about the failures and the dangers and useless attempts etc etc. The thing is he does this ALL THE TIME. Maybe they only pull him on air when things are rough. But them I'm left wondering who is doing commentary when things are getting better...

(82,849 posts)He's their national defense reporter and has been embedded with the military for what seems like forever. His sources are very good, and he's quite accurate, but he has merged his interests with those of his subject. His angle is usually in favor of more military, more intervention, more action for his sources, which is the way they advance their careers. By setting the tone for a major news outlet, Miklaszewski gets Official Washington revved up for the military solution.
Are things bad in Iraq? Probably, and there are certainly some areas that are in worse shape than others. Is the blanket solution for all of Iraq's problems to turn to the military? Surely not. But that's the only solution Miklaszewski's reporting ever offers.
