The sale is good until 6/6. Price includes shipping. Seems like a pretty good deal as I haven't seen them this cheap. However, they seem to all be off-brands so I'm not sure how good the reliability will be. The warranty ranges from 1-3 years on these, so be sure to check that before you buy. I have some CFLs that need replacing, so I'm going to try my luck with a few of these.

1. Educate me. Are LEDs superseding CFLs? Do they look better than CFLs?

I know they look great on my car, but that's all I know.

We just moved into a place full of CFLs and the light they produce, depresses me.

2. The CFLs are probably best described as a stop-gap

Sylvania actually produces decent ones that produce the right color spectrum. That's all I buy.

I am interested in seeing what the LEDs are like. They should be better.

3. The color is probably trying to mimic incandescence bulbs. Are they yellowish?

Try Daylight or Bright white, they are much better.

4. You have to pay attention to the light temperature produced

CFLs, like all florescent bulbs, produce native color temps closer to the UV range. Regular incandescent bulbs produce native color temps that are much lower, so the light looks warmer (yes, I realize this is backwards from what you might think).

According to the details page, all of these bulbs produce 3000K light, which means they should closely resemble the color temp of regular incandescent bulbs which produce a native temp of around 2700K. CFLs are around 6000K unless they are filtered.

7. It should be noted that the Watt figures are for incandescent equivalence

The "30 Watt" for instance, requires only 5W of power to operate.
