Russell Hinson, a former KKK leader known as, “Exalted Cyclops,” wanted revenge. The brick mason with a rebel tattoo on his arm felt he had been wronged by a black man in a failed drug deal and decided things wouldn’t be right until a back person, any black person, paid the price. “I’m going to shoot a n----- through the heart,” his buddy testified during Hinson’s trial. In 1992, a few days after Christmas, Felicia Houston, 16, was walking with her cousins down Burke Street in Monroe, North Carolina. Around 6:30 pm, Hinson, in a red pick up truck, with his buddy driving, pulled out his crossbow, aimed it the 10th-grader—and fired. The razor-tipped arrow pierced Felicia Houston’s chest, she screamed, collapsed, and died 16 hours later.

By definition, someone guilty of first degree murder intended to kill someone without justification knowing it was wrong and illegal, but did it anyway. Its a thought out decision followed by an action.
