http://gizmodo.com/playboys-first-nudity-free-issue-targets-teens-with-a-s-1757161915This is Sarah McDaniel, a 20-year-old Instagram celebrity. Shes on the cover of the newly nudity-free Playboy magazine, striking a very millennial pose. Notice anything odd about her eyes, though?
McDaniel took the internet by storm a few months ago thanks in part to her particularly beautiful case of heterochromia irdum. This is why she has one brown eye and one blue eye. But thats only a small part of what makes this cover interesting. Since Playboy decided to go PG-13 in October, the magazine says that traffic to its website has spiked by 400-percent and the mean reader age dropped from 47-years-old to 30. It seems like the pivot to being a better-behaved media empire was pretty smart.
Cleverly, the new cover manages to evoke not only the obvious Snapchat reference but also a little bit of the internet cam girl allure. So its familiar, if not a little naughty at the same time. McDaniel said of the cover, The idea was to look at me from a boyfriends perspective. (The photo was, of course, taken by a professional.)
Its voyeuristic and alluring which is why people started reading Playboy in the first place.

Playboy nudity free? Never saw that one coming. What next? Cosmo without bad sex tips?

(2,935 posts)They had top-notch photographers and beautiful women, without the seediness of Hustler or Penthouse. Sad that there's not a market for that anymore.

Shit, look at Newsweek. It used to be a respectable alternative to Time, then it became a joke, and now it's gone.

(80,708 posts)It's not just those guys, like I said- all print magazines are struggling it seems like. Unless people are going to be stuck on an airplane on in a doctor's waiting room they seem to have little use for most of them.

(80,708 posts)Although silly me, the only reason I really ever looked at Rolling Stone was for the music stuff.
Maybe an occasional Taibbi piece.

(31,464 posts)Yup, she looks young. But then, Playboy never ever did college girl features before, right? Oh, wait...never mind.
Girls of the PAC 10.
Girls of the Big East.
Girls of the Ivy League.
Nope...now they're featuring clothed twenty year olds. Shameful!
