Kenneth Copeland Declares That Ted Cruz Has Been 'Called And Anointed' By God To Be The Next President
Submitted by Kyle Mantyla on Friday, 2/5/2016 1:37 pm
Earlier this year, Ted Cruz's father and primary presidential campaign surrogate, Rafael, spoke at televangelist Kenneth Copeland's church in Texas, where the controversial prosperity gospel preacher declared that Ted Cruz has been anointed by God to be the next president. Copeland, who believes that he can destroy the Ebola virus by speaking in tongues, introduced the elder Cruz by asserting that "I believe, with all my heart, that his son is called and anointed to be the next president of the United States."

In a sermon last year at an Irving, Texas, megachurch that helped elect Ted Cruz to the United States Senate, Cruz' father Rafael Cruz indicated that his son was among the evangelical Christians who are anointed as "kings" to take control of all sectors of society, an agenda commonly referred to as the "Seven Mountains" mandate, and "bring the spoils of war to the priests", thus helping to bring about a prophesied "great transfer of wealth", from the "wicked" to righteous gentile believers. link to video of Rafael Cruz describing the "great transfer of wealth" and the role of anointed "kings" in various sectors of society, including government, who are to "bring the spoils of war to the priests".
Rafael Cruz' dominionist sermon given August 26, 2012, at the New Beginnings Church of pastor Larry Huch, in Irving, Texas has already received considerable scrutiny due to an excellent Huffington Post commentary by Methodist Associate Pastor Morgan Guyton, who noted the explicitly dominionist nature of pastor Cruz' sermon, which concerned the divine mandate for believers, with anointing of "kings" in their respective spheres, to take control over all sectors of society.
Cruz spoke of "Kings who are anointed to go to war, win the war, and bring the spoils of war to the priests."
Discussion of the now-notorious speech by Rafael Cruz has missed the fact that Ted Cruz was subsequently blessed and anointed by prominent dominionist pastors, in effect as a "king" in the political/governmental sphere, at a special blessing ceremony at the Marriott Hotel in Des Moines, Iowa, at a July 19th-20th 2013 rally designed to draw pastors into politics.

(34,136 posts)And I think he is a very scary man. The idea that he has a chance of becoming president terrifies me. That the person who has the best chance to defeat Cruz for the Republican nomination is a fascist like Donald Trump scares me more. Rubio as a third choice is absurd - he is such a light weight and a dilettante that I am sure he would just be used by the powers that be for their own purposes.
That is why the people who say they won't vote for the Democratic nominee if it isn't their choice for the primaries are fucking crazy. We cannot let the GOP win this election. I don't know who I will vote for in the primaries - either Hillary or Bernie would be superior to the GOP choices.

(58,785 posts)I am not at all sure he believes it. Not saying he doesn't, but I've never seen any signs of religiosity in him. He may just be a charlatan using religion to gain power, and I suspect that would be far more dangerous than a true believer with his abilities.
On the positive side, from what I read in the NY Times, Cruz's support is mainly among those who describe themselves as "very conservative," and his evangelical support is mainly among very conservative evangelicals. He lost "somewhat" conservative and moderate evangelicals to Rubio. He reportedly did well in Iowa (49% of evangelicals very conservative, 8% moderate), and probably will in Nevada, because they're both low-turnout states where groups who do go caucus (the passionate fringes) have outsize influence.
The suggestion is that SC will tell -- SC is 80% evangelical, but they're far more moderate conservative than Iowa's. Right now he polls about 11% with them.

(2,682 posts)more of a nightmare, really, of Cruz taking the oath of office and Daddy Cruz stepping out from behind the curtain, placing a crown on Sonny's head and a bejeweled mantle around his shoulders. King Rafael Cruz Jr, the First.
These people are truly delusional.

There's note down thread about his dad saying Ted is here to bring about "The End Times."
There is an element of Christianity in America that is essentially an apocalyptic death cult. They look forward to the destruction of the world, beginning with a massive conflagration in the Middle East and think that needs help coming about.
Not the kind of man you want with his hand on the nuclear trigger.

(12,799 posts)The elder Cruz told the congregation that God would anoint Christian kings to preside over an end-time transfer of wealth from the wicked to the righteous. After this sermon, Larry Huch, the pastor of New Beginnings, claimed Cruzs recent election to the U.S. Senate was a sign that he was one of these kings.
According to his father and Huch, Ted Cruz is anointed by God to help Christians in their effort to go to the marketplace and occupy the land and take dominion over it. This end-time transfer of wealth will relieve Christians of all financial woes, allowing true believers to ascend to a position of political and cultural power in which they can build a Christian civilization. When this Christian nation is in place (or back in place), Jesus will return.
