Adelsons newspaper endorses Rubio: Las Vegas Review-Journal Endorses Marco Rubio

Sheldon picking another loser.

Today the editorial board of Sheldon Adelson’s Las Vegas Review-Journal endorsed Florida Senator and third-place Iowa caucuses loser Marco Rubio for Nevada’s upcoming Republican caucuses. The board writes:
<snip>

The paper enumerates the reasons underlying their endorsement, including Rubio’s stance on immigration, federalism, social welfare programs, as well as his “electability.” They also mention one factor that did not influence their decision: Their new activist owner, the Republican billionaire Sheldon Adelson.

It’s widely known that Rubio, like many of his GOP competitors, has actively courted the money and attention of Adelson, who is singularly focused on American foreign policy as it relates to the State of Israel. But the Review-Journal insists that Adelson’s political ideology, which happens to closely match Rubio’s political ideology, did not directly or indirectly affect their endorsement:

The RJ met with Sen. Rubio on Oct. 9, two months before the announcement of the newspaper’s sale to the family of Las Vegas Sands Chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson. The Adelsons have detached themselves from our endorsement process, and our endorsement of Sen. Rubio does not represent the support of the family.

Adelson endorsed the boy blunder back when he held his candidate fashion show on Vegas last year, the same week he admitted he bought the newspaper.

Like someone said recently, Adelson is good at picking losers.

pretty much controls the Rethug Party in Nevada. He once made a comment about controlling all the State Boards and Commissions. And he pretty much has total control.

Las Vegas population turns over ever three years. Less than 20% of the population are born and raised. Every Governmental Entity is focused on the protection of the Gaming Industry,consequently our Education System is at the same or below the level of Mississippi. Two Industries mining and gaming. And gaming is Sheldon Adelson,and Steve Wynn,as well as a few smaller players. Great place if you like Desert Living and enjoy being out and about the desert. And we spend days on end out in the desert.

I lived in the Anza Borrego one summer and lived in San Diego several times, can't take the heat anymore. The desert is beautiful though.

I wasn't aware of the school issue but I don't think anything about the decline of the public school system surprises me anymore. Wasn't that area hit pretty hard in '09?

Nevada has had Education issues for decades and when the crash hit,well,this is a Right to work for less state and social services are minimal to non existent. Tens of thousands of Casino related jobs just went away and when that is your main employer,the rest is history. There again,the City pretty much had a population turn over by 2013. We still have 40k vacant homes and for the most part,they are garbage,mostly ransacked messes. The running joke is they call Vegas L.A east.
