(50,986 posts)a bad night for the Republican Party, which amounts to a pretty good night for Democrats nationwide.
Trump is, as the phrase goes, the south end of a northbound mule. Note to Reince: the south end of a northbound mule just whomped our entire candidate field in the nation's first primary. I'm sure Reince won't read my message, though. He's probably in the throes of a heroin stupor as we speak. Given the landscape ahead through to Cleveland, I'm not sure I blame him.
Kasich can't claim an impressive second because his second is roughly half of Trump's total. Not very encouraging, considering Kasich dumped all his marbles into NH. I think he's done for as a presidential candidate. He could show up on the veep short list.
Cruz at 12 percent. Rather than say yet one more negative thing about Ted Cruz, let me suggest to the 12 percent of NH voters this evening who thought he would make a good president that they seek psychotherapy at once. Don't wait until morning. Call now.
Jeb, who was essentially buried alive in Iowa, crawls from the grave and finishes a miserable fourth (if this model holds). Not much return on his investment. Uh, Jeb? Time to throw in the towel.
