Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia's Most Controversial Remarks and Opinions

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/supreme-court-justice-antonin-scalia-s-most-controversial-remarks-opinions-n518246

Funny or not, here are some of Scalia's most controversial opinions and most outrageous quotes: ...

Scalia famously suggested in his dissent to "ask the nearest hippie," while arguing that "Freedom of Intimacy is abridged rather than expanded by marriage."...

"There are those who contend that it does not benefit African Americans to get them into the University of Texas where they do not do well, as opposed to having them go to a less-advanced school, a slower-track school where they do well," Scalia said ...

"But I suppose there are handheld rocket launchers that can bring down airplanes," he said, adding that whether or not Americans could carry such weapons was open to interpretation. "That will have to be — it will have to be decided," he said.

in the history of the SCOTUS. Oddly, I know a guy who clerked for him on the DC Circuit and at the SCOTUS. He's now a federal judge himself. Like Justice Ginsburg, he said Scalia was a surprisingly likeable and funny man away from the bench and was a demanding but good boss to work under. That WAS 30+ years ago.

Still, what he said and wrote can only excuse so much, and he did immense amounts of damage to countless American citizens with his blighted and prehistoric legal philosophy. Glad he's gone.
