NC Gov. McCrory Blames Liberals for 'Orwellian' Orchestration of HB2 So a Dem Could Take His Job

Not The Onion!!

http://www.thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/davidbadash/gov_mccrory_blames_liberals_for_orwellian_orchestration_of_hb2_so_a_democrat_could_take_his_job

Republican North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory says that even though he personally called for lawmakers to take action against Charlotte's nondiscrimination ordinance, even though Republicans initiated a special one day legislative session to do so, even though Republicans drafted and pushed HB2 through both chambers, even though every Senate Democrat walked out making the bill's passage by Republicans unanimous, even though he personally signed HB2 less than 12 hours after it was first introduced last month in the General Assembly, and even though he staunchly has defended HB2 every day since, liberals are to blame for it.

"This hornet’s nest, he argued, was first kicked not by him, but by the Democratic City Council in Charlotte, which passed a nondiscrimination ordinance in February allowing transgender people to use men’s or women’s bathrooms," The New York Times reports. "Before it passed, he said, he emailed the Council to warn it that if it changed 'basic restroom and locker room norms,' he would be forced to support a state law overriding them."

"On Thursday," the Times report continues, "he said he suspected that the entire matter had been orchestrated by Democrats and the Human Rights Campaign, a national gay rights group, to give Democrats an advantage in a tight governor’s race."

"The backlash, he said, has allowed for no dialogue on 'a very complex issue.' Dissenters to the left-wing position, he said, were being intimidated. Mr. McCrory used the word 'Orwellian' twice."

When in Charlotte he governed as a moderate, no crazy anti gay stuff, no crazy anti abortion stuff. Basically no crazy. But after running as a moderate, he went totally tea evangelical nutso.

So why should we take anything he says seriously? not to mention this is an ignorant argument.

He and his merry band of bigots weren't concerned about dialogue when they rushed HB 2 through in 12 hours in a special session
of the legislature.

They made me do it! They made me do it!

What a tired old Republican excuse for not taking responsibility for his own actions and actions of hostility
do have consequences.

Great Op/Ed piece today in the Raleigh NewsObserver from a UNC Law professor that the motivation for
HB 2 had nothing to do with bathroom "safety" and everything to do with hostility toward LGBT people.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027783046

These bigots don't like being called out for their bigotry and are really pissed at being called out for it.
They just can't stand the truth.

claim liberals or Democrats "did it" or are the ones "for it" when something they did comes back to bite them.

Gov Schmuck may not be overly intelligent, but this is a trick even the dullest GOP pol practices regularly. Apparently that "backlash" is smacking him right in the face. Good.
