What happens if the republican congress gets to work before November and pass legislation people want? What if they come out and create a path to legalization, Dream Act, confirm Garland, pass a bunch of pork, and take a few other popular steps? Do they turn it around? Do they maintain seats they would have lost? Do they get Trump elected?

(7,919 posts)by enabling their favorite lobby, by terrifying their constituents and feeding them perverse versions reality, by projecting every nasty thing they do onto their opponents, but never by doing the right thing, the sensible thing, the best thing for the world, the country, the voters and citizens.
That's what they have become. Lincoln would be deeply ashamed.
No one in office on that side of the aisle has the least interest in anything that would benefit humanity, the planet, or ordinary people who do not belong to their twisted versions of religion or their secretive world of graft and corporate patrons.
They may breathe the same air we do but they are as predatory and alien a life-form as the Vampires and Zombies populating the latest prime time fantasy.

(3,447 posts)As such, we recognize that this will not happen. Also, it wasn't 'Republicans' (et al) who selected Trump, so trying to appease them is pointless (or near pointless, more likely).

(7,919 posts)They have taken advantage of every good turn. They deny the value of anything proposed by a Democrat as if it came from Satan, and sometimes in that language. They boldly condemn equality of any kind no matter who is damaged in the process and then blame the results on anyone who advocates for human dignity.
I do not see how they can contribute to the well being of the planet or of we the people. It is not in their makeup or their interest to do so.
They bully and abuse the weak and then blame them for being so.
Sadly this has become the form for some Democrats as well. I wonder where they learned to do that? Don't you?
