MORE than $120,000 in fines were handed out to Uber drivers during a blitz during the Labour Day long weekend.

Transport Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said the tougher laws recently passed in the State Parliament have allowed transport officers to better enforce the law.

“Since the changes came into effect on the 27th of April, transport inspectors and law enforcement officers undertook 78 hours of enforcement activity over the last long weekend,” he told the Parliament.
