(7,768 posts)She was clearly choked up.
I think she had to switch her mic off for a second. I felt for her.
I know I certainly would not want to go on a live on-air broadcast and announce the death of a friend and colleague, training or not.

(9,463 posts)...evil machinery I see her as being part of. Fact is, of course they are friends and that cuts to the heart to see such an emotional reaction. She had on her brave face when she returned from commercial break and has been holding strong since. I'm sure she'll have her moments when the camera turns away to the next anchor.

(7,768 posts)I'm feeling empathy for her because when I watched her face I could see that she was trying to be professional and hold it together in her "Breaking News" announcement. An announcement that she wouldn't be able to avoid making.
I did get a catch in my throat watching her though, because I'm a little extra sensitive right now.
Within the last month, I just lost a friend unexpectedly to leukemia and my beloved 15 year old, rescue Border Collie 'Pearl' (my user name) also died.
Between Trump and his irresponsible, fear-mongering tweets, the crash of the Egyptian plane and the death of Morley Safer, this day is surely shaping up to suck.
I think I'll go outside, the sun is shining..
