This Harvard Student's Graduation Speech Will Give You Major Chills

Harvard graduate Donovan Livingston's convocation speech will definitely go down in history as one of the most moving and meaningful graduation moments of all time.

The Master's of Education student performed a spoken-word poem at Wednesday's 2016 Convocation Exercises for the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The speech, titled "Lift Off," describes the difficulties that have historically faced black Americans seeking an education.

He also shared his own reasons for becoming an educator.

"I teach in hopes of turning content into rocket ships, tribulations into telescopes. So a child can see their potential from right where they stand," he said. "An injustice is telling them they are stars without acknowledging night that surrounds them. Injustice is telling them education is the key while you continue to change the locks."

Livingston finished with an inspiring call to action.

"I belong among the stars. And so do you. And so do they. Together, we can inspire galaxies of greatness for generations to come. No, sky is not the limit. It is only the beginning. Lift off," he said.

a well grounded bull-shit detector.

And it is generally the liberal arts classes that do this best.

That's the type of person and people that should be writing educational standards or excellence for learning...

Honestly, I hear him, and his oratory powers and "star" power may surpass that of Barack Obama. He's amazing. What a future he should impact!
