We all acknowledge that Chicken Donnie (I refuse to call him Donald) is a bully. Fine. So how do you defeat him? Look no further than your childhood or that of your children.
What happens when a bully picks on a person? That person is scared and tells the bully to knock it off. Then things only get worse. The kid calls their parents and the school. It gets worse and now more people know. People prey on fear.
So one day you decide to stand up to the bully. You say he's a dummy. OK, so what? So are his minions (apologies to the cute Disney minions). You try to say he's a failure? OK, so what, but you're still scared? THEN you start playing his game and calling his bluff. He wants to fight? OK, you fight - one on one. Guess what, he's scared. He's only known threats - not real action.
The first sign of the cracks in Donnie's armor was when he challenged Bernie to a debate and wanted $20m for it. Guess what - Bernie agreed and lots of doners posted the money. What happened? Chicken Donnie happened. Then the press went after him and bruised his little ego. He got mad. Everyone knows when you start getting mad and yelling, you've lost the fight. Donnie lost.
So we need to go after him - after his details, after his promises, and after his ego. And agree to his battles. Suddenly you'll find the little man behind the curtain isn't so scary after all?
How do I know this? First, I was the victim of bullying - not just in school, but also at work. And I called their bluff. Suddenly - poof - they went away. Sadly, my brother is a Trump wanna be. He's well educated, he's charming, and wishes he had Donnie's money. However, he has Donnie's ego and Donnie's thin skin. For years I'd avoided him, then I confronted him, and now -- he's the one backing down.
Just my .02.

(4,711 posts)You don't beat Trump by being Trump. He's already got that skill on lockdown; that's his home ground and nobody beats him there. You beat Trump by not being ignorant, by caring about and addressing the important things that he casts aside on his way to the next schoolyard taunt or jingoistic slogan. Just my two cents.
