Willie Nelson Wants You to Work for His New Marijuana Company

If you’ve ever dreamt of saying the words, “I just applied for Willie Nelson’s weed company,” your dreams are about to become a reality. Willie Nelson is hiring new employees for Willie’s Reserve, his “premium cannabis lifestyle brand” that features his own special, hand-picked brand of pot. The official website says the purpose of the company is paying “tribute to a tradition of sharing, caring and toking.”

The company isn’t just a start-up — it’s a growing empire. Willie’s Reserve is even scoring big investments from major companies, like New York-based private equity firm, Tuatara Capital.

It’s no secret that Nelson has been very vocal over his lifetime about legalizing marijuana. Now, he’s looking to launch his brand in Colorado, and he needs five employees to run the local business there — a production manager, extractor, compliance officer, bookkeeper and a sales director.

Willie’s Reserve was developed by his family and their desire to get people talking about the war on drugs. When Dan Rather asked Nelson earlier this year why he decided to attach his name to the marijuana company, he had a simple response. “To prove a point, I think,” Nelson said. “I felt like if you really believe in something, why not promote it?”

Damn right... I'll kick that. One of the sad things about getting older is that so many opportunities seem to appear before our eyes these days. If I was younger, I would have jumped at an opportunity like this. But I'm not really sad, as I love to see young people stepping forward to carry on the good fight into the future.

Still, I think folks who live in states where it's legal should go with the local purveyors. But I'm funny that way.
