If people are not happy with democracy and do not get to participate in its progress and prosperity, if credit default swaps tank economies for a decade, if inequality results in battening down the hatches and tribalism instead of people who are open, then the economy tanks. Inequality, politically and economincally, leads to political instability which results in economic collapse. It is the right wing in the USA that has been destabilizing the USA here with rampant and planned inequality.

It's all about the voters. Unfortunately, we have far too many stupid voters voting for stupid candidates acting on behalf of very wealthy interests who are not stupid.
