Donald Trump complains about debates being scheduled opposite NFL games

Donald Trump once owned a pro football team (and then sank the league in which it played, but we digress). Anyhow, Trump is outraged that pro football might sink viewership of presidential debates this fall, and he's blaming Hillary Clinton.

Trump tweeted his displeasure Friday night over the dates of the first two debates: Sept. 26 and Oct. 9. Those happen to be a Monday and a Sunday, respectively. We're assuming Trump really is displeased and not just playing the media to attract attention (if it's the latter, then well-played, Mr. Trump).

First, didn't the Republican Party, which Trump represents, have to agree to the debate schedule? This isn't like pickup basketball where the winners take it out, or the party in the White House sets the dates. Or is Trump saying the Commission on Presidential Debates is in Clinton's pocket and wants to help bury the debates behind prime-time football (and late-season baseball, for that matter) so fewer people can marvel at Trump's mastery of forensics?

and no one on his campaign is either, or he won't listen to them.

Looks like he is taking up some of Bernie's stuff.

And he should be glad if he thinks the game means fewer people will watch him. Those debates are not going to do him any favors.

Hillary shows him to be a huge ignorant hater fool on national TV.

I think he will weasel out of debates with Hillary, one way or another.

A huge assist from Fox.

Or he could just make a radical play and totally go nuts and off script and rant and rave. Spew out all the republican lies and propaganda while ignoring Hillary.

And when he finally lets the moderators try to regain control, he can claim the debate is rigged against him and storm off the stage.

His fans would absolutely LOVE IT! And then he can refuse all other debate requests and say its rigged against him.

It would not harm him with bagger voters one little bit! Fox news and hate radio would have his back and he weasels out of the process.

6. Urban Dictionary definition of "Gish Gallop"

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Gish%20Gallop

Gish Gallop

Named for the debate tactic created by creationist shill Duane Gish, a Gish Gallop involves spewing so much bullshit in such a short span on that your opponent can’t address let alone counter all of it. To make matters worse a Gish Gallop will often have one or more 'talking points' that has a tiny core of truth to it, making the person rebutting it spend even more time debunking it in order to explain that, yes, it's not totally false but the Galloper is distorting/misusing/misstating the actual situation. A true Gish Gallop generally has two traits.

1) The factual and logical content of the Gish Gallop is pure bullshit and anybody knowledgeable and informed on the subject would recognize it as such almost instantly. That is, the Gish Gallop is designed to appeal to and deceive precisely those sorts of people who are most in need of honest factual education.

2) The points are all ones that the Galloper either knows, or damn well should know, are totally bullshit. With the slimier users of the Gish Gallop, like Gish himself, its a near certainty that the points are chosen not just because the Galloper knows that they're bullshit, but because the Galloper is deliberately trying to shovel as much bullshit into as small a space as possible in order to overwhelm his opponent with sheer volume and bamboozle any audience members with a facade of scholarly acumen and factual knowledge.

Either Trump just pulls out of all debates or he pulls this tactic!

Remember this thread on the date of the first debate (if there is one) and we will see if we were right!

I'm a Seahawks season ticket holder so if they're playing I'm going to watch the game I've already made up my mind who I'm voting for so the only thing I'd like about watching the debates would be Hillary figuratively slapping Trump around.

BTW Hair Brain, complain to the RNC. They negotiated the schedule.

Debates are handled by the Commission on Presidential Debates. It is brain dead to schedule debates against a football game.

in a time slot where the most people would watch. The DNC choose terrible times for their debates to keep Bernie less visible. As much as I am a Democrat what I really like is Freedom, and that comes from, among other things, the access to all the information. Scheduling debates on Saturday afternoons and only live-streaming them on the internet suppress that information for many people.

That's part of the problem with modern politics. The general consensus really doesn't care. Which would you rather watch - some boring debate or Monday Night Football?

Finding evenings that would work during that time frame. If it wasn't a Friday or Saturday night, there was a game or a Jewish holiday. As somebody who volunteers for a non profit in a college town, I know how hard it can be to schedule fundraising events around college football and everything else going on.
