Looks like Trump is trying to bail on the debates

Donald Trump accused Hillary Clinton of intentionally stacking debates against prime time programming to “rig” the election process, despite the fact that the schedule has been set since last September, Politico reports.

Said Trump: “As usual, Hillary and the Dems are trying to rig the debates so two are up against major NFL games. Same as last time w/ Bernie. Unacceptable!”

I predicted last week in a post that Trump might try to do something to get out of debating or to change it to suit his needs. The truth is that the debate schedule was set up last September by an independent commission of Democrats and Republicans.

I think all debates should be on Tuesday just like elections are.

He might not actually do any debating, or pay much attention to the moderator or what HRC says...but he won't pass up the free televised opportunity.

10. He'll get "free televised opportunity" even if he bails. That happened when he bailed in the primary

12. No, it's not a surprise. He did it in the primaries using the same excuses.

I don't know whether it helped or hurt him, but he got a lot of free air time out of it. It would be the same this time. The networks would spend more time talking about Trump than HRC.

The preliminary debate schedule for the general election has been set since September, 2015, by the non-partisan Commission on Presidential Debates. The schedule includes a Sunday night debate on Oct. 9 that will air concurrently with an NFL game between the Green Bay Packers and the Carolina Panthers.

and from CBS, July 11, 2016:

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton will participate in three general election debates from September through October, according to the schedule released Thursday by the nonpartisan organization that sponsors the debates.

The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) announced the first debate will take place on Sept. 26, 2016 at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, while the second and third debates will occur on Oct. 9, 2016 at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and Oct. 19, 2016 at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada. Though each debate will run from 9-10:30 p.m. E.T. without commercial breaks, debates will also be divided into different time segments lasting 10-15 minutes. This format builds upon the 2012 debates where longer segments allowed candidates to get through the specifics of their policy proposals.

"The CPD has a simple mission, to ensure that presidential debates help the public learn about the positions of the leading candidates for president and vice president," said the two CPD co-chairs. "These formats will allow an in-depth exploration of the major topics in this year's election."

In addition to the three presidential debates, CPD also announced the vice presidential debate will take place on Oct. 4, 2016, at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. Only moderators will be able to privately select the questions posed to the candidates featured at all of the debates. But, a group of uncommitted voters will have the chance to ask a few questions at the second presidential debate, which is styled like a town-hall meeting.

the less exposure he gets in those debates the better it is for him. And with bernie it was within the party. Does Donald think the R party is less powerful than the D party when it comes to arranging debates? He thinks the Dems get to schedule them with no R input?

11. I think he might want to bail on the debates

However if he is behind in the polls which I think he will be he is going to have a hard time of it.
If he is behind I think he will have to participate in the debates out of desperation. Even though he really doesn't want too. He was able to get away with that at the end of the republican primary only, because he was so far ahead in the polls. That will not be the case this time.

I know a handful of politicians have gotten away with blowing off debates, but I cannot think of one example of one that got away with it while being behind in the polls.
