"Speaking with ABC, the Republican nominee also took on Khan and his wife, Ghazala, suggesting she wasnt allowed to speak at the convention.
If you look at his wife, she was standing there. She had nothing to say. She probably, maybe she wasnt allowed to have anything to say. You tell me, Trump said.

If this is true, then that one sentence could do it.. No one could defend that sentence. All will see Trump for what he is a self centered fool.
The mother/wife..was just standing there with her husband/father... why attack her???

(40,212 posts)she didn't speak because she didn't think she would be able to keep her composure. She said every time she sees s photograph of her son she cries.

I wonder how that helps him with the women's/mother vote?
She was standing there with her husband and father. Just standing.

(4,187 posts)No words were needed. Clearly it went over Trump's head. Not surprising.
Ms. Khan reminds me of my dear grandmother. In a similar situation, she, too, would have preferred to let my grandfather speak in her place. Yes, that's sexist, but we all grew up in and live in a sexist society, and we all absorb sexist messages like the one that says men should speak and women should listen. But regardless of that, it was her choice not to speak, and we have to respect that. I have great respect, admiration, and compassion for both Mr. and Mrs. Khan. I hope they know how many of us feel this way.

(20,411 posts)It was cruel, it would never be tolerated by our children (EVERY child knows better than to do this), it can NEVER be defended even by the most ardent supporter.
With respect to this latest incident - he was not going after Mrs. Kahn, but followers of Islam - not allowing women to speak freely. Many of his supporters will agree with his comment.
Over the top? Absolutely. But not as high over-the-top as the reporter incident imo.

His entire aim is to get the insinuation out there while offering qualifiers to support his "Who, me?" response that will follow any questions about the insinuation.
That, or his brain is scrambled.

(21,574 posts)The Khan's are all over every media outlet and Trump is fighting a battle against them he can't win. The "mother didn't speak" thing has blown up on him, the "I've made sacrifices" thing has blown up on him.
Khan's are fighting the good fight against Trump and his racist ideology and I hope they stay in the public eye and a thorn in Trump
s paw until November!!!!!!!!
